Funding

The organization awards scholarships to academically exemplary students from disadvantaged homes, who demonstrate commitment to their community. Scholarships are paid directly to the university for the duration of the program and cannot be applied toward student loans or refunded to students.

Awards can be used for tuition, fees, books, feeding, accommodation, transportation, and other education-related expenses incurred at any accredited federal, state, or private university in the
country.

Eligibility

* Be a Nigerian citizen.
* Be an undergraduate or planning to enroll in an undergraduate field study at an accredited university.
* Be recommended by a teacher, coach, community or religious leader, or mentor, addressing the applicant’s personal and/or professional achievement and moral character. Up to three (3)
 recommendation letters will be accepted.
* Show demonstrated care through community-service in the twelve (12) months prior to application. Additionally, the applicant must be willing to commit to being active in community related service or engagement during the duration of the program.
* Have 
excellent academic record including awards and recognitions.
* Demonstrate financial need.
* Must be of outstanding character, have an impeccable work ethic.

Application process

*All applications for the scholarship are done via an online platform.
* Applicants will complete the online application form and submit all required documents through the FDN portal.
* The fully completed applications will undergo a careful screening and selection process after
which the successful (short-listed) candidates will be invited for interviews with the selection committee.
* Successful ca
ndidates will be notified and become FDN scholars for the academic year
(renewable yearly).

Scholarship Maintenance Criteria

Scholarship funding is renewable annually based on the candidates meeting the following criteria:

* Be of excellent academic standing (maintain an average Cumulative GPA of ?? on a scale of 5.0)
during the preceding academic year.
* Continue to participate in their communities with demonstrable evidence of positive impact of their engagement.
* Continue to maintain a high level of moral character and integrity.
* Be willing to also give back to/mentor other scholars/students when there is an opportunity and need.
* Participate in the organization events and mentor newer scholars in the program.
